It is set in an elevated position with panoramic long distance views over Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales.

It offers a peaceful rural location, yet the village facilities are only half a mile away. These include 3 pubs, village shops including post office and chemist, three "takeaways" and a large Park. A more extensive range of shops and restaurants is available in the next village, Cross Hills which is less than 2 miles away.
